Palau's first European contact took place in 1783 by the British Ship Antelope, commanded by the English captain Henry Wilson. Antelope was ship wrecked on a reef near Ulong, a rock island between Koror and Peleliu. Wilson and his crew stayed in Palau for three months to rebuild his ship with the assistance of Koror's high chief Ibedul. Palau has come a long way since captain Wilson landed but it's still a pure, untouched paradise. You can be assured of an extraordinary vacation experience!
