Making Divers Smile since 1969!
Since starting the Great Barrier Reef's first dive school in 1969 I have strived to provide the best dive service. Safety drills are undertaken on every expedition and crew training and professional development is fostered. My operations manager Craig Stephen handpicks each crew member. The result is a crew who truly give every customer the best experience possible, whether you are a novice diver or a seasoned diver.
Skimming just above the Dive Sites!
Our ‘Fly Dive’ flight takes a specially designed flight path north along the outer Great Barrier Reef and over Endeavour Reef (where Captain Cook ran aground), across the Emily Wreck (a massive ship on top of the reef) and then along the continental shelf adjacent to the Ribbon Reefs; where you have a birds eye view of the dive sites. 50% of the flight is just 180m above sea level.
We are the only Cairns Dive Operator who doesn’t dive anywhere near Cairns.
To ensure you get the best dive possible ALL of our diving is conducted more than 100 miles north of Cairns.
We provide a complimentary underwater photography workshop and Great Barrier Reef Ecology Program in addition to photographic services such as 3 x dedicated camera stations, trip DVD’s and photo CD’s, photography and video courses plus underwater camera rental.
‘Low key’ Passenger Photo competition.
As the sunsets on the Great Barrier Reef on the last evening, you enjoy an Aussie BBQ night with champagne and prawns (straight off the barbecue). Following dinner you help judge the underwater photo competition. The winners are displayed as part of the ‘Reef Reports’ on the Mike Ball website and the best photos from each month are published in the Australian Dive Log magazine. The top photo from the year will win a free trip with Mike Ball Dive Expeditions.
