Brought back from the ashes of the Khmer Rouge takeover and a subsequent attack from the United States military, Sihanoukville with its formerly famous beaches and deep sea port is once again becoming a Cambodian vacation hotspot.

Often referred to as “Snooky”, this resort town sits out on a peninsula in the Gulf of Thailand just north of the Ream National Park. Since returning to peaceful times, many expats have settled here to open bars, restaurants, and clubs giving “Snooky” that typical Southeast Asian holiday feel. Beware, however, that it is not always safe to walk along the beach at night.

Sihanoukville dive sites consist of three offshore islands: Koh Rong Samlem, Koh Kon and Koh Tang. All three of these can be reached by a one to four hour boat trip or liveaboard excursion. These islands are mostly uninhabited making their beaches and dive sites very exclusive. Good quality coral reefs teaming with tropical fish and warm, clear, calm waters surround these islands making them ideal for full day trips and most levels of diver.
