Book A Diving Trip OnlineBoracay is a small island located in Aklan Province of the Philippines, roughly 315km south of Manila. It has been ranked as one of the best islands in the world for relaxation, tranquility and nightlife – in addition to having great scuba diving.
The island is only 9km long and 1km wide, but manages to squeeze over 300 resorts and lodges in. There are numerous on-land activities, and the island is quickly earning itself a reputation as being one of the best kite surfing destinations in Asia. While beaches like White Beach burst with activity, a few quiet corners do remain on the eastern shores.
From gentle drifts to coral gardens and a handful of deep dives, the sites surrounding Boracay are a beautiful introduction to diving in the Philippines. While these sites are not as challenging and varied as reefs surrounding Palawan or Puerto Galera, they are certainly enough to keep everyone entertained. Coupled with a wide variety of mainland activities that revolve around stunning tropical beaches, it becomes clear why this island receives quite so much praise. While macro marine life is not often present in these waters, you can be sure to see a wide variety of tropical fish and stunning corals. Two wrecks are also available for exploration, and boast impressive fish populations.

constraint and currently non-profits and research institutions are working assess the levels of degradation, though there is very limited collaboration between initiatives.
The region has been the recipient of a progressive ‘reef bud’ program sponsored by Globe Telecom, which initiates the development of new coral by submerging inorganic and organic materials. A handful of beach cleanup initiatives and environmental awareness programs exist, though significant improvements are required quickly.
The weather in Boracay usually falls into one of two categories, known as Amihan and Habagat seasons.
Amihan (October to June) is characterized by moderate temperatures (25 – 32 degrees Celsius) and limited precipitation. This period coincides with the high season for tourism.
Habagat (July – September) by contrast has hot and humid weather (28 – 38 degress Celsius) with consistent rainfall. The beginning of this season also sees the highest level of tropical storms.
Water temperatures are roughly 27 degrees Celsius year round.
