The Lomaiviti archipelago of Fiji consists of seven main islands and a number of smaller ones. The islands are at the heart of Fiji's colonial past and are home to the country’s first capital, Levuka.Book A Dive Center Online
Some of the inner islands are well-developed tourist destinations with plenty of facilities and attractions including diving, fishing, snorkelling and whale watching. Other islands are more like the Fiji of old and have few facilities, but still offer an enchanting island experience.
The deep ocean environment, many reefs and lagoons of Lomaiviti create a diverse habitat for creatures both small and large. The major ocean current and tidal flow into the lagoons feed a marine ecosystem so exotic that the area has been nominated by the Wildlife Conservation Society for a World Heritage Seascape Listing and is featured in National Geographic Magazine. Wide open sea, 1000 meter walls, passages with strong currents to calm inside reefs form the habitat for large schooling fish like tuna, barracuda, snapper, grey reef sharks, hammerheads, manta rays, turtles, whales and dolphins.
